Halloween in Downtown Eugene 2026: Events and Where to Stay
Halloween in Eugene is not just one night. This year the fun starts a full week early downtown, keeps going through a big Ducks homecoming weekend and ends with a grown-up costume party at the Hult Center on Halloween itself. If you are thinking about a fall getaway, here is what is happening and how to plan a spooky weekend stay.
Halloween Downtown: Saturday, October 24
The City of Eugene hosts Halloween Downtown on Saturday, October 24, 2026, from noon to 4 p.m. It is free and open to all ages, and it takes over the streets of downtown Eugene.
Start at Kesey Square
Head first to the central info booth at Kesey Square, at Broadway and Willamette Street. Pick up an event map and a scavenger hunt card there. Volunteers in candy corn aprons roam the event to answer questions.
Trick-or-treating and scare stations
Little ones can trick-or-treat at participating downtown businesses from noon to 4 p.m. Look for bright orange candy corn flags outside the storefronts.
Older kids and adults can follow the map to scare stations built by local artists. Each one carries a scare rating, so you can pick the right level of fright for your group.
Windows, music and a spooky market
- Witchy Windows: downtown businesses decorate their windows with elaborate Halloween displays.
- Live entertainment: music by DJ Smuve in Kesey Square, street performers and surprise flash mobs.
- Mystical Marketplace: local artists and vendors with a taste for the macabre, in the Summit Bank parking lot at Broadway and Oak Street.
- Scavenger hunt: find hidden codes around downtown to earn free raffle tickets.
More Halloween fun nearby
The Lane County Farmers Market at the Farmers Market Pavilion is open until 3 p.m. that day, and Eugene Saturday Market in the Park Blocks is open until 4 p.m. Both join in the trick-or-treating.
Getting there and parking
The Overpark Garage at 10th Avenue and Oak Street offers free parking on weekends. City street meters do run on Saturdays. Lane Transit District is also offering free bus rides to the event; the city's Halloween Downtown page has the details on how to get the free pass.
The Oregon Ducks play at Illinois that day, so downtown will not be competing with a home game crowd.
Halloween weekend: October 30 to November 1
The following weekend is one of the busiest of the fall in Eugene. It is Homecoming and Fall Family Weekend at the University of Oregon, and Halloween falls on Saturday.
Ducks vs. Northwestern at Autzen
Oregon hosts Northwestern at Autzen Stadium on Saturday, October 31. As of this week, the official Oregon Athletics schedule still lists the kickoff time as TBD, so watch goducks.com for the final time. Fans have been asked to wear black for this one.
Eugene Ballet: The Taming of the Shrew
Eugene Ballet performs a steampunk-inspired Taming of the Shrew at the Hult Center on Friday, October 30 and Sunday, November 1. There is no show on Saturday, which leaves Halloween night free.
Haunted Hult: Saturday, October 31
For the 18 and over crowd, Haunted Hult turns the Hult Center into a Halloween party from 8 to 11 p.m. Expect live music by Shelley James and Agents of Unity, a lobby dance party, a costume contest and a photo booth. Doors open at 8 p.m. and the band starts at 9 p.m. Tickets start at $35. It is presented by Eugene Ballet and the Hult Center.
Book early for Halloween weekend
Homecoming, Family Weekend, a home football game and Halloween all landing on the same weekend means lodging near campus and downtown goes fast. If your dates are set, booking soon gives you the most choice. A whole home also makes it easy to get the whole group into costume before heading out.
Two Moxie stays in the middle of the action
Both of these homes sit on West 10th Avenue in downtown Eugene, a short walk from Kesey Square, the Park Blocks and the Hult Center.
Charmer Downtown 3BR Home w Free Parking near UofO has three bedrooms, two baths and room for up to six guests, plus free parking. It is a great fit for a family trick-or-treating at Halloween Downtown or a group in town for the Homecoming game.
Downtown Studio Apartment in Eugene's Heart! is a one-bedroom studio for two. It is an easy pick for a couple planning a night at Haunted Hult or the ballet, then a slow breakfast downtown the next morning.
Both book directly at moxievacationrentals.com.
