Butte to Butte 2027 + 4th of July in Eugene: Where to Stay
Independence Day in Eugene doubles as race day. The [OTC Butte to Butte](https://www.moxievacationrentals.com/events/otc-butte-to-butte-2027-2027-07-04)—often called "The People's Race"—marks its 53rd running on **Sunday, July 4, 2027**.
## The race in brief
- **Distances:** 10K, 5K, and a 4-mile Mayor's Walk
- **Course:** Starts at Spencer Butte Middle School and finishes at 5th Street Public Market
- **Organizer:** Oregon Track Club, presented by Rexius
- **Official site:** [buttetobutte.com](https://buttetobutte.com)
Travel Oregon and the race itself describe a large community field—thousands historically—so lodging near downtown and the finish fills early when the holiday lands on a race weekend.
## Stacking July 4 with a race weekend
Because race day is also the holiday, most traveling runners book **Friday–Sunday or Saturday–Monday**. That window covers packet pickup, an early start, and post-race celebrations without rushing a same-day drive.
A whole-home stay helps when:
- Your group includes runners and non-runners sharing one kitchen and backyard
- You want quiet after an early alarm (hotels near the Market can be louder on the 4th)
- You’re combining the race with other summer plans in Lane County
## Where to stay
Finish-line access favors **downtown and near-campus homes**. Browse the full list on our [properties page](https://www.moxievacationrentals.com/properties)—options range from downtown apartments to multi-bedroom houses near UO.
